    The food was decent, if sort of typical, diner fare. The potatoes were very good, as was that gravy. Will probably try a different main dish next time.

    The staff was extremely polite and treated my whole family, from the one-year-old to the seventy-year-old, very well. We were given a perfect amount of attention. While I've sometimes had better food at other diners, the Salinas Black Bear Diner was good, and I've rarely had better service anywhere. Excellent crew will bring me back again.

    Good food and large portions. Make sure you come hungry! The biscuits are better in the early morning but tend to be more crumbly later in the day.
    Try the pies if you have room after finishing their massive dishes.
